Frequently Asked Questions
Here you'll find answers to the most common questions, so you can quickly and easily get help with whatever you're wondering about.
General
No. The colors in our wallpapers do not have a corresponding color code or NCS code. They are unique and may sometimes vary slightly from one batch to another. That’s why we always recommend bringing a sample from one of the rolls you’ve hung to your local paint store, so they can help you find the right shade.

Yes, since the end of October 2021, you as a retailer can view our batches in our e-commerce store.
No, you can't tell which batch it is, since it's never fully determined until the warehouse has packed and shipped your order. If you'd like to know, please call or email us, and we'll be happy to help! 031-880550 / [email protected]
Yes! We always ship rolls from the same batch. In some cases, when an item is available at our outlet, the last few rolls may come from a different batch, but we’ll always contact you and won’t ship anything without your approval.
Most likely, yes! A batch number remains valid until the product is sold out. Eventually, the batch will run out because we’ve simply produced new rolls with a new batch number. So don’t wait too long to hang the wallpaper, and if you’re unsure about the quantity, check with us so we can send you rolls from a batch that still has plenty in stock.
The batch number identifies when the wallpaper was manufactured. Wallpapers manufactured at the same time are assigned the same batch number, which means that the colors match each other much better than if they were manufactured on different days. This may be due to humidity, temperature, precise paint quantities, etc. You can find more information here.
A wallpaper sample makes the decision-making process easier for you. Color reproduction often differs between the real thing and your screen. Imagine receiving a sample of the finished product right in your mailbox and then being able to match it to your sofa, rug, and curtains. You’ll have a better chance of getting the perfect result!
Since we have several different factories and suppliers, we have many product sheets. Please contact us at [email protected], and we’ll help you find information about your specific wallpaper.
You can see this clearly under the “Deleted” tab when you’re logged in, right here!

Wallpapering
If you're a handy person who isn't in a rush, anyone can hang wallpaper. Of course, there are factors that make some walls harder to wallpaper than others, but basically, it's just paper that you stick to the wall with glue!
A roll of wallpaper is 10.05 meters long and 50 cm wide. How far a roll of wallpaper will go on your specific wall depends on the ceiling height. A roll of wallpaper measuring 10.05 x 0.53 meters without a pattern repeat is enough for 4 strips in a room with a standard ceiling height of 2.4 meters. This means you can cover 2 running meters of wall per roll. If the wallpaper has a pattern repeat, you’ll get 3 strips per roll instead. This means you can cover 1.5 running meters of wall per roll.
A lot of people make the mistake of using too much glue. The rule of thumb is that if you can write a letter in the glue without it dripping or running, you have the right amount.
The houses we live in are not perfectly straight—that is, the walls and floors are never 100% straight. To hide these irregularities, especially in the corners, it’s important to overlap the wallpaper onto the next wall by a couple of centimeters at each corner. Then, start the next wall by “covering the gap” and continue as usual. It’s important to make sure the first strip is straight even after a corner. Check out our wallpapering guide HERE!
When you reach a window, it’s important to start by placing the strip at the very top, against the ceiling, just as you normally would. Then press the wallpaper firmly against the top window molding, trim it, and press the wallpaper along the side window molding. Trim along the moldings with a wallpaper knife. When you reach the bottom window molding, proceed in the same way. Feel free to check out our wallpapering guide HERE!
It’s important to plumb the wall (mark what’s vertical) so you know what’s straight on the wall. Then, apply the wallpaper the same way you would on a straight wall and run the wallpaper knife along the ceiling to “cut at an angle.”
Yes, you can. However, there are a few exceptions:
- You should not put new wallpaper over vinyl wallpaper; it must be removed before applying new wallpaper. Not sure if it’s vinyl wallpaper or not? Contact the store where you purchased it, or contact us if it’s Midbec wallpaper.
- The wallpaper you're going to cover must be securely attached. Air bubbles, loose seams, etc., can prevent the new wallpaper from adhering as well as it should.
We always recommend giving the wall a quick coat of primer before hanging wallpaper. This ensures that your wall achieves the best possible results. If you prime the wall with paint, you can be sure that the wall is fully saturated and that the adhesive will spread evenly between the wall and the wallpaper.
No. It works fine in restrooms, but bathrooms are much more humid, and wallpaper doesn’t have that “barrier capability.” There is wallpaper designed for wet areas, but it’s rarely approved for them, so be careful!
Midbec Tapeter We recommend non-woven adhesive for all of our wallpapers.
Nonwoven is the type of paper blend we use to print our patterns. It is a blend of cellulose (paper) and synthetic fibers. This blend makes the wallpaper slightly thicker than traditional paper wallpaper. It also makes it more forgiving of the surface it’s applied to.
There are a few different types of wallpaper symbols. These include symbols for pattern matching, lightfastness, adhesive, removal, and washability, among others. You’ll find a detailed description in our guide to wallpaper symbols HERE!
All of our wallpapers are easy to hang! The wallpapers are made from FSC-certified non-woven material. This means you roll the adhesive onto the wall and then apply the wallpaper. The wallpapers are hung edge-to-edge!
Our wallpapers can withstand water splashes to varying degrees. If we had to choose, vinyl wallpaper is more durable in every way compared to wallpaper with a paper backing.
