Memories That Become Patterns

Hand-drawn by: Lina Schnaufer

In the Saltviken collection, designer Lina Schnaufer has drawn on memories of her great-grandmother’s childhood home in Kolmyrarna on the west coast. The house—built sometime during the 19th century—was originally a simple dwelling with outbuildings and a small field. Later, it became a vacation home for various branches of the family during summers and school breaks. The house is called Saltvik after the bay on which it is situated. The Saltviken collection draws inspiration from Lina’s childhood visits and the surrounding nature: summers spent with her cousins, biking down narrow, pine-lined paths to the sea, picking blueberries, and eating herring for lunch in the arbor. A true summer dream.
