Environment & Sustainability
At Midbec Tapeter , we do not have our own wallpaper factory; instead, we manufacture our products at existing, reputable factories in Sweden and Europe. Production takes place at factories with which we already collaborate and from which we import products, so there are good synergies when it comes to transportation, among other things.
IGI – The Global Wallcoverings Association
All of the factories where we manufacture our products are members of IGI, The Global Wallcoverings Association. IGI is an association that sets guidelines and standards for how wallpaper should be manufactured. Much of this concerns how manufacturing should be carried out with regard to the environment and safety. IGI has established the basic rules for a quality assurance system that applies worldwide.
CE Marking
All of our products are CE-marked. This certifies that our wallpaper rolls meet the EU's health, environmental, and safety requirements.
FSC certification
Our factories are FSC®-certified (Forest Stewardship Council), which means they use only FSC-certified materials. The certification ensures that forest resources are used in an environmentally sound, socially responsible, and economically sustainable manner. The entire production chain promotes biodiversity, sustainable practices, and safe working conditions.
What can we, as a non-factory, do?
Throughout our entire process, we always carefully consider how we want to produce and operate. Our designers and product team are constantly developing new features that will last longer and perform better over time.
Warehouse
All of our wallpapers are stored under one roof and shipped from our warehouse in Mölnlycke, just outside Gothenburg.
Transportation
All shipments within Sweden are handled by DB Schenker, a shipping company with a strong focus on the environment and sustainability. International shipments are handled by DHL and UPS, which are also actively working to reduce their emissions.
Shipping Cost
Starting today, we are charging retailers a shipping fee for packages we send that contain fewer than 5 rolls. This is an effort to encourage retailers to place combined orders.
Test Materials
Midbec Tapeter We are the only company in Sweden with our own in-house production of sample materials. We do this so we can offer our retailers customized displays and avoid throwing away unnecessary leftover materials. All the sample materials we produce are made on demand, so nothing goes to waste. We also regularly encourage end consumers to use leftover pieces of wallpaper for various crafts and upcycling projects.
Materials
Non-woven wallpaper
The vast majority of our products are made from nonwoven fabric. It is a blend of polyester fiber and cellulose. The cellulose is TCF (Totally Chlorine-Free) grade.
Colors
Our products are printed with water-based inks that are PVC-free.
Vinyl
We have a small product line consisting of vinyl wallpaper. These are manufactured in accordance with the guidelines. The advantage of vinyl wallpaper is that it is generally more durable than non-woven wallpaper and lasts longer.
