I’m one of the few who still designs patterns the traditional way.
I enjoy sketching out my pattern ideas with pen and paper. I think so clearly when the pattern repeat itself takes shape on the paper. It’s as if that’s when all the patterns truly come to life, and I can begin to visualize them on the walls of a home—a cozy home, with the scent of both coffee and freshly baked cinnamon buns.

The inspiration for my designs often comes from memories and the people close to me, which are then woven together with flowers and plants. I often start with a story I want to tell as a starting point, but let the foliage and symbols interpret this within the pattern. Sometimes the narrative is clear, and sometimes it’s only visible to me afterward. I often begin with an inner image of the foliage I want to create and let my imagination and memory weave it together.

My grandmother Elsa has played a major role in my interest in art. She was my creative mentor as a child, and with her, anything was possible. She taught me that there are no limits to what you can do artistically.
Living in various places around the world has become a constant source of inspiration, but the pull back to Sweden—its nature, culture, and roots—is always there.
